Puerto Marina

Puerto Marina's floating islands — Benalmádena's award-winning harbour, waterfront homes, a five-minute walk to the sand.

Puerto Marina sits at the eastern edge of Benalmádena Costa, on the stretch of coast between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. It is the marina itself and the homes built around and within it: a working harbour of berths, quayside restaurants, the Sea Life aquarium and a small run of shops, wrapped by terraces of apartments. The defining feature is the cluster of low white blocks that rise straight out of the water, linked by footbridges, that locals simply call the islands. They were built in the mid-1990s and you will not find anything else quite like them on the Costa del Sol.

The homes: penthouses first, then waterside apartments

Penthouses lead here, the type buyers ask for most, usually with a wide terrace angled at the masts and the open sea beyond. Below them sit one, two and three-bedroom apartments, many of them on or over the water in the island blocks and along the quays, with duplex penthouses crowning the taller buildings. The architecture is a deliberate blend of Andalusian white with Arabic and Indian touches, kept low so the harbour stays the focus. Homes facing the marina trade a little evening quiet for the view and the life of the quays; those set back toward the Las Islas and Dos Mares side are calmer.

Who tends to buy here

Puerto Marina suits people who want the harbour on their doorstep rather than a quiet residential street. That means lock-up-and-leave second-home owners who like walking out to dinner and a boat trip, year-round residents who value the buzz and the short walk to everything, and buyers with one eye on holiday letting, since the marina draws visitors through the warmer months. If you want silence and a garden, this is not the pocket for you, and we will say so. If you want to step off your terrace into the life of the port, few places match it.

Prices: what you'd typically expect

As a guide that holds across the cycle rather than a snapshot, smaller studios and one-bedroom apartments here generally start in the mid-hundreds of thousands. Two and three-bedroom apartments with a marina aspect typically run from the high six figures, and the larger duplex penthouses with the best water views reach into the one-to-two-million band. Aspect, floor and how directly the home faces the harbour move the number as much as size does, and we will always tell you when an asking price is ahead of what the position justifies.

Getting around

Málaga airport is about twenty minutes up the A-7. The nearest railway is the Arroyo de la Miel–Benalmádena station on the Cercanías C1 line, a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk or a short taxi from the quays, with trains roughly every twenty minutes and Málaga city around half an hour away. Beaches sit either side: the dark sand below Bil-Bil castle and the town beaches toward Arroyo de la Miel are a few minutes on foot. Torrequebrada golf and the Benalmádena International College are a short drive west, and buses link the marina to the pueblo in the hills above.

How we work

We are a family agency, Bianca and Omèr, and we have spent twenty years on this coast. We would rather tell you a home is wrongly priced, or that a particular island block gets the wind, than push a sale that does not suit you. If Puerto Marina sounds like your kind of place, or you simply want to know which terraces hold the afternoon sun, drop us a line.

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is Puerto Marina?
Puerto Marina is the marina at the eastern end of Benalmádena Costa, in Málaga province on the Costa del Sol, between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. The homes are built around and within the harbour, including the distinctive white island blocks that rise from the water and are linked by footbridges. Málaga airport is about twenty minutes away by car.
What kind of properties are sold in Puerto Marina?
The mix is led by penthouses, typically with wide sea-facing terraces, alongside one, two and three-bedroom apartments and duplex penthouses. Many sit directly on or over the water in the island blocks and along the quays. The buildings are deliberately low-rise, blending Andalusian white with Arabic and Indian detailing, so the harbour remains the focus.
What do homes in Puerto Marina typically cost?
As a general guide rather than a fixed figure, studios and one-bedroom apartments usually start in the mid-hundreds of thousands of euros, two and three-bedroom apartments with a marina aspect run from the high six figures, and the larger duplex penthouses with the best water views reach into the one-to-two-million band. Floor, aspect and how directly the home faces the harbour affect the price as much as size.
Is Puerto Marina well connected?
Yes. Málaga airport is roughly twenty minutes by car along the A-7, and the Arroyo de la Miel–Benalmádena station on the Cercanías C1 line is a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk or short taxi from the quays, with Málaga city about half an hour by train. Beaches, including the sand below Bil-Bil castle, are a few minutes on foot, and Torrequebrada golf and an international school are a short drive away.
